According to a study based on a purposive sample of 1,196 respondents with record of gang membership, most members reported being recruited during their teenage years.[64] The average age for joining a gang among respondents in this study was 15, for males, and 18, for females.[65] The ECLAC reported, in 2015, that gang presence affected 214 out of 262 municipalities in the country, particularly those around the city of San Salvador.[66] A separate study found gang members were present in at least 80 percent of schools and exert control over the territories where schools are located and abuse students through threats, extortion, and recruitment.[67] Gangs recruit children primarily through coercion and persuasion, often within contexts of deprivation.[68] Coercive tactics include kidnapping, violence, and threats of physical force against children or their family members

The Cleveland Clinic (CC) just published an egregiously misleading article titled, Vaping and Smoking: Both are Dangerous, Nicotine in any form is hazardous to your health. The 2007 British Royal College of Physicians report, Harm Reduction in Nicotine Addiction: Helping People Who Can't Quit, was unequivocal: that smokers smoke predominantly for nicotine, that nicotine itself is not especially hazardous , and that if nicotine could be provided in a form that is acceptable and effective as a cigarette substitute, millions of lives could be saved ( emphasis added) Despite the established science, the CC asks: But how do e-cigarettes and cigarettes really stack up when it comes to your health? They dont provide a straight answer, but in its 2016 report the Royal College did: the hazard to health arising from long-term vapour inhalation from the e-cigarettes available today is unlikely to exceed 5% of the harm from smoking tobacco .
